Indeed, the gods had no choice. Momos knew no boundaries. He loved the effect of insult. The effect was his momentary fame.
According to Hesiod’s Theogony (8th–7th century BC), Momus was initially an advisor to the Olympian gods. Still, he was thrown to the ground by others’ exaggerated, unpleasant, and constant criticism.
