There’s a bumper day of racing to look forward to on Saturday and we have picked out four bets across the UK and Ireland in a Lucky 15.

A busy Saturday with the six meetings in Britain accompanied by two from Ireland, the latter the scene of the Group 1 Irish Oaks from The Curragh, in which Minnie Hauk will be a warm order to supplement her win in the Epsom equivalent.

There is some high quality action from Newbury, which features the hugely valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint, and Market Rasen, who host both the Summer Plate and Summer Hurdle on their biggest day of the year.  Here are our best horse racing betting tips to fill out your Lucky 15.

Saturday Lucky15 racing tips

14:40 Market Rasen – Castel Gandolfo @ SP
14:57 Newbury – Regional @ 2/1
16:50 Curragh – Extravagant @ SP
18.00 Newmarket – Something Splendid @ SP

14:40 Market Rasen – Castel Gandolfo @ SP

Olly Murphy’s Sir Galahad is a fascinating contender in the valuable Summer Handicap Hurdle, the four-year-old unbeaten in four starts in this sphere and remaining open to further improvement. However, this represents much the toughest task he’s faced and better value likely lies elsewhere, namely Castel Gandolfo, who has won and finished second in this race in the past two years.

The selection, trained by Fergal O’Brien and ridden by Jonathan Burke, comes here in top form having accounted for subsequent winner Max Of Stars when winning over course-and-distance last month.

He’s up 6lb for that, meaning he’s 5lb higher than when beating the re-opposing Kihavah in this very race last season, but he’s got an excellent record here and won’t be inconvenienced by the forecast rain, being fully effective in soft conditions.

14:57 Newbury – Regional @ 2/1

The Ed Bethell-trained Regional has been performing well in Group 1s this year and the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes should present a slightly easier opportunity.

He’s now seven, but he looks better than ever having finished a fine third behind Believing in Al Quoz Sprint over 6f at Meydan in April and when filling the same position back at 5f in the King Charles II Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Beaten into fourth by the re-opposing Elite Status in this race last season, he comes here in far better form than Karl Burke’s representative, who ran no race at all in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Royal Ascot and now has cheekpieces applied.

At the ratings, Regional has plenty in his favour.

16:50 Curragh – Extravagant @ SP

Aidan O’Brien’s Extravagant has been given a mark off the back of just two runs and there’s a chance that the handicapper has underestimated his ability.

A €300,000 purchase, he shaped with huge potential over this course-and-distance on his debut, keeping on strongly having looked green and all at sea when first brought under pressure. He was ultimately no match for Joseph O’Brien’s Green Sense, but the winner went on to finish second in a Group 3 on his next start, giving the form a rock solid look.

He was a bit below the level of his debut upped to 7f at Fairyhouse last time, looking in need of further experience and not convincing over the additional furlong. A half-brother to Group 1 winner Cloth Of Stars, he returns to 6f on this occasion and a big run looks on a cards off a mark of 83.

18.00 Newmarket – Something Splendid @ SP

Something Splendid struggled with consistency for Kevin Philippart De Foy at two, but he’s been revitalised by a switch to Peter Chapple-Hyam’s yard this year and can provide his multiple Classic-winning trainer with a welcome success, now back up to 1m2f.

The son of Postponed is yet to win in four starts for the stable, but he’s done very little wrong, beaten a neck over a mile at Newbury last month and running to a similar level when fourth over the same course-and-distance a little over a fortnight ago.

He was arguably undone by a lack of early pace on his latest start, but wasn’t beaten far and is clearly on a mark that he can win off. An eye-catching third at Nottingham on his stable debut, this uphill finish will hold no fears for him.
