After years of teasers, false hope, and confusion, Playboi Carti has finally released a new album. Music, the rapper’s first studio album since 2020’s Whole Lotta Red, is out now. Guests on the 30-track album include Travis Scott, the Weeknd, Skepta, Future, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla $ign, and Young Thug. Listen to Playboi Carti’s new album below.

As Olivier Lafontant broke down in a recent Pitchfork article, Playboi Carti has been teasing his new album since March 2021 when he wrote, “LeTs dr0p thiS new Album . w3 noT done.” A lot has happened since that cryptic message, with the rapper semi-officially sharing songs like “2024,” “Different Day,” “H00dByAir,” and “Backr00ms.” More formally, he released the single “All Red” and collaborated with the Weeknd (“Popular” and “Timeless”), Camilla Cabello (“I Luv It”), ¥$ (“Carnival”), Travis Scott (“Fe!n”), and more.

As it turns out, “All Red” is not on Music. In fact, of the songs Carti previewed, the only ones on Music are “Evil J0rdan” and “H00dByAir,” the latter of which is now called “HBA.”

Playboi Carti was also arrested, in February 2023, for allegedly assaulting and choking his then-pregnant girlfriend. He was booked on charges of felony aggravated assault and hindering a person making an emergency telephone call. The woman told police that he grabbed her throat, pushed her into some bushes, and held her neck until she could barely breathe. As of last autumn, the case is still pending.
