Aaron Ashley’s selections for Saturday’s Football League fixtures include wins for high-flying Sunderland and Birmingham.

There is another full EFL programme for punters to look forward to on Saturday, with Championship fixtures between Bristol City and highflying Leeds from Ashton Gate and leaders Sunderland at home to Oxford likely to take centre stage.

However, there is a bit of something for everyone with a total of 33 fixtures taking place across the Championship, League One and League Two and Aaron Ashley is on hand with a 10-1 accumulator.

Sunderland to beat Oxford

1/2

Sunderland’s fast start to the Championship season is showing no signs of slowing down and Regis Le Bris’ league leaders can maintain their promotion push with a home victory over Oxford.

The Black Cats showed great character in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory at Luton, which took their tally to eight wins from 11 league games, and they have taken 13 points from a possible 15 at the Stadium of Light.

A 2-2 draw with title favourites Leeds is the only time that they have failed to win a home league game this season and they should be too strong for Oxford, who have been held to five successive stalemates.

The U’s were promoted from League One via the playoffs last season and they have picked up only two points from their five away league fixtures.

Plymouth to beat Preston

9/5

Plymouth have endured back-to-back Championship defeats away at Cardiff and Millwall but they look a different proposition at Home Park and can respond by beating Preston.

The Pilgrims have won their last three home league games and that includes inflicting what has been only one of two defeats on pace-setting Sunderland.

Preston, meanwhile, have failed to win any of their last ten away games in the Championship, which includes losing three of their five road trips this season.

Birmingham to beat Mansfield

2/1

Birmingham splashed the cash in the summer in a bid to return to the Championship at the first time of asking and it has been so far so good for the big-spending Blues, who top the League One charts with nine wins from 11 games.

Chris Davies’s side have won four of their opening five away league outings and they can strengthen that record at Mansfield, who may be a touch flattered by their fourth-placed position.

The Stags have recorded victories in six of their last seven league matches but they’ve profited from a pretty soft schedule, with 16th-placed Blackpool their highest-ranked victim in that timeframe.

Notts County to beat Harrogate

19/40

Notts County needed a late leveller to secure a 1-1 draw at Barrow on Tuesday but they should find things more comfortable at home to struggling Harrogate.

The Magpies sit third in League Two after 13 matches, only four points behind leaders Port Vale, and they have won three of their last five fixtures at Meadow Lane.

Harrogate, in stark contrast, find themselves languishing down in 16th in the fourth tier and they have failed to win any of their last four away league games, scoring only once in that period.
