Arsenal play host to Manchester City on Sunday with both teams hoping to claim a win which could be crucial for hopes of a Premier League title challenge.

City travel to North London having easily dispatched their fierce local rivals United last time out, while the Gunners will be in confident mood following their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last Saturday.

The Citizens find themselves in sixth position following an inconsistent start to the new campaign, with defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton sandwiched in between emphatic wins over Forest and United.

Arsenal have fared better, generating nine points from their opening four outings. A solitary loss to early pace-setters Liverpool is the only blemish on the copybook, but Mikel Arteta will know his troops can ill-afford to slip up on Sunday.

Ahead of the weekend’s marquee fixture, we’ve analysed the stats to produce a Bet Builder with 12/1 football odds.

Goals galore at the Emirates?

No team in the Premier League has registered more goals than Arsenal, who have only failed to score on one occasion this season.

The vast majority of these strikes have been delivered at the Emirates, thanks to thumping triumphs over newcomers Leeds United and Ange Postecoglou’s Forest.

City smashed four past a beleaguered Wolves outfit on the opening weekend, before taking their tally to eight goals overall during the Manchester derby.

The eight-time Premier League winners have also had the second most attempts in the division, although bizarrely they trail United on this metric.

Last season’s meetings between this title-chasing pair produced a whopping 10 goals, after September’s entertaining 2-2 draw at the Etihad was followed up by Arsenal’s thumping 5-1 victory on home turf.

Leg 1: Over 3.5 Goals @ 15/8

Officials could be in for a quiet afternoon

It may seem hard to believe given some of their over-zealous antics in recent times, but the Gunners have proven themselves to be one of the Premier League’s better behaved sides.

Arsenal have amassed just seven yellow cards so far this season and are therefore on course to receive fewer than last season’s modest total of 50.

Six red cards were shown to the North Londoners during the 2024/25 campaign, but their overall disciplinary record makes for pretty positive reading.

City players were booked on 57 occasions – seven times fewer than Arteta’s men – last term, making them the least cautioned team in the division.

Both teams are currently averaging less than two cards per game, so the Under 3.5 market offers reasonable value.

Leg 2: Under 3.5 Cards @ 13/8

Haaland on a hot streak

No defence in the world will relish the prospect of facing Erling Haaland, particularly when the Norwegian marksman is in such a rich vein of form.

Citizens ace Haaland has already recorded five goals this term, bagging braces against Wolves and United and the opener in the disappointing loss to Brighton at the end of last month.

City’s talisman has had more efforts on goal (19) and shots on target (8) than any other Premier League player, helping him to become the league’s top scorer.

He scored in both clashes with Arsenal in his maiden and most recent season in England, netting four times in his eight appearances against Sunday’s opponents.
