UBI payment: Which states send payments between $200 and $1,000?


More Universal Basic Income (UBI)payments are coming to folks from 34 different cities and states across the country. Yet another major aid from the government to people in need that is another guaranteed income program providing monthly payments to participants who are eligible. These programs tend to be sponsored by the government but there are also cases in which non-profit organizations have been responsible for them. Most cases show there are no strings atached to how the money can be used and people don’t have to pay it back.

There is a general opinion of people who question these programs as they continue growing, the ones who oppose them are convinced these programs will make people avoid finding a job. They think getting free benefits will discourage them from seeking a better lifestyle through a well-paid job. UBI payments across the country do vary in terms of structure and benefits they offer. However, all of them have a relatively easy way to access and most people in need can be eligible.

Best UBI programs in the country

Let’s start with Birmingham, Alabama. The program is called Embrace Mothers, it lasts for one year and it offers $375 monthly payments to 110 single mothers. In Los Angeles, there is the Big Leap program that lasts from January 2022 to January 2023. Approximately 3,000 people have been getting $1,000 per month for the last year. Another UBI program in LA is known as Three Years. It consists on 150 eligible people between the ages of 18 and 24 getting $1,204 per month. In Marin County, California, 125 low-income women who are raising an underage child have been getting $1,000 monthly from 2021 to 2023. Many more UBI programs exists in California.

In Atlanta, they have the I.M.P.A.C.T. (Income Mobility Program for Atlanta Community Transformation) program. It lasts one year and 300 Atlenta residents who live in poverty are getting $500 per month for a year. In Illinois, about 3,000 Cook County residents are getting $500 monthly in a program that is set to start in December, 2022. Gainesville, Florida has been helping 115 formerly incarcerated people with $1,000 and then $600 monthly payments. There are also many more programs in states like Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, DC, and Virginia.
