Kentucky field party shooting: Teen Samantha Ramsey shot dead trying to avoid sobriety test
A teenage girl is dead and a Kentucky cop is on administrative leave after a deadly shooting incident early on Saturday morning in Hebron, Kentucky.
Samantha Ramsey and three friends were leaving a field party in Hebron, Kentucky at around 2am early on Saturday when they encountered deputy Tyler Brockman, who was performing roadside sobriety tests after receiving reports about the party.
According to police, the car then ignored deputy Tyler’s order to stop and accelerated, sending him sprawling onto the hood.
He then drew his gun and fired four shots through the windshield.
Ramsey’s friends and fellow passengers, however, tell things differently. They say that Brockman used ‘unnecessary force,’ jumping onto the vehicle’s hood before opening fire.
Ramsey was struck by at least one bullet and was pronounced dead later at a hospital in Florence.
Boone county Police said the incident was caught by the deputy’s dashcam, and they are reviewing footage before releasing it to the public.
Deputy Brockman has been placed on administrative leave until an investigation into the incident is complete.
