Kentucky Coach John Calipari SUSPENDS Freshman Cam'Ron Fletcher!
As of a few days ago, Kentucky head basketball coach, John Calipari, asked freshman Cam’Ron Fletcher to “step away” from the team. This decision follows the scene of Fletcher crying on the bench after getting minimal playing time in the loss against North Carolina. Calipari tweeted that Fletcher needs to do some “soul searching” and think about if he fits into the Kentucky culture.
In this video, I provide my opinion on the matter. Personally, I think that suspending a kid that just wants to help the team win is a bit extremely, but that leads me to believe that there are other private issues in the locker room that we don’t know about.
There is no denying the talent that Fletcher possesses. However, like his teammates, he has been used to being the primary option for his entire career. This is the major challenge that Calipari faces every year: breaking down egos. It is proving to longer than expected this year. Personally, I believe that Kentucky will turn things around. They are definitely underperforming, but I have confidence that by March, they will be solid. The number one ranked recruiting class has a little bit more fight in them than this. Let me know your thoughts.
