Highpointing: Black Mountain, the highest point in Kentucky – Rooftops of America
UPDATE: The state of Kentucky now owns the summit so there is no longer any need for a waiver!
We visit Black Mountain, the rooftop of Kentucky. Located in Harlan County near the town of Lynch, the highest point in the state of Kentucky has an elevation of 4,145 feet. It is in the Cumberland Mountains section of the Appalachians. We also look at the history and impact that coal mining has had in the area, particularly during the 1930s and the bloody events of the Harlan County Coal War. Join us as we explore America and go highpointing!
