Cumberland Falls & Natural Bridge State Parks, Kentucky, Dream
Enchanting is the best word to describe Cumberland Falls State Park in Kentucky. A recent camping and hiking visit started with steam rising off the thundering falls and progressed to the appearance of a spectacular rainbow projected on waterfall spray.
Soon, rafters shoved off from the banks of the powerful Cumberland River to paddle upstream and touch the falls. From my perspective, one raft even appeared to slip beneath a rainbow at the base of the falls.
Another enchanting location not far from the Cumberland Falls State Park is Natural Bridge State Park, where an enormous rock bridge peeks out of a thick canopy of trees. A brief hike gives you a closeup view of the surprisingly complex sandstone bridge that nature carved over millions of years.
